Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children and adults [ASHA].
It is important to remember that each child develops at his/her own rate and that no two children are the same. If you are concerned that your child’s language is not where it “should be,” reach out for a free consultation or mention your concerns to your child’s pediatrician.
An articulation disorder is a speech sound disorder in which a child may have difficulty producing specific sounds or patterns of sounds.
A feeding disorder is defined as, “a disturbance in oral intake of nutrients, inappropriate for age, lasting for 2 weeks and associated with 1 or more of 4 areas: Medical, Nutrition, Feeding skills, Psychosocial” (Goday, P. S. et. al, 2019). Please reach out if you have concerns regarding your child’s feeding/swallowing skills. Briana R. Bustos, MA, CCC-SLP, the treating therapist has recently completed additional education and training in pediatric feeding disorders.
At this time, Speech Tree, LLC is not able to bill insurance. However, an invoice of services can be provided for clients to submit to insurance for possible reimbursement. It is the client’s responsibility to know their insurance policy and possible coverage for services.
Speech Tree, LLC does not have a physical address at this time. Services will be provided in the clients’ home or at an agreed upon location, or by tele-therapy. Speech Tree, LLC services the Northern NM area (i.e., Santa Fe, Pojoaque, Los Alamos), or anywhere in the state of NM if services are provided remotely.
Tele-therapy is still provided through direct interaction with the therapist via a HIPAA compliant platform (i.e., Zoom, Google Meet). Caregivers will be required to play a more active role in clients’ therapies due to the nature of this service delivery method. Teletherapy can be an excellent option for certain populations and can make therapy more convenient and accessible. Articulation therapy of school-age children, for example, has been positive through this form of therapy.
